Health Guarantee

Elegance Havanese is more than just a service, and our relationship with you continues well beyond the day your puppy comes home. I am a puppy lover myself and wish nothing would ever go wrong with any puppy, but a puppy’s health is dependent on a number of factors like genetics, exercise, food & nourishment, and overall care that are not always within our control. While I can’t guarantee that your puppy will never have a health problem, I can promise I will do my best to ensure your new family member is healthy from the moment he or she arrives home!

It is your responsibility to care for this puppy. Please have your puppy checked over by your vet within the first week. If something comes up, let us know. You can return your puppy within seven days, and we will fully reimburse you with your puppy purchase price. After that time, you may return the puppy to us at your cost, but we cannot refund you. We will find a new family for your dog/puppy. If you ever need to rehome your pup, you must return it to Elegancehavanese.com All costs associated with the pup after pick up are your responsibility.

Every Elegance Havanese puppy purchased from us is accompanied by a 10 days health guarantee. After 4 days of shipping your Havanese  puppy, we require you to take the puppy to a licensed veterinarian for a checkup. If the VET finds out within the first 10 days of purchasing the puppy that it is sick of an illness that has been contracted before the date of delivery, you should contact us immediately.

Our Havanese Puppy are 100% safe, secure and guaranteed to be in good health and free from any signs of infection at the time we ship them to you. We take pride to say that our relationship with you doesn’t end once you take home a Havanese  Puppy from us. As a family of breeders and experienced Facility puppy counselors, we would wish to believe that nothing can ever go wrong with our Havanese  Puppy. However, some things are not always in our control because a puppy’s health depends on many things like genetics, exercise, nourishment, and overall daily care.

We don’t believe your Havanese  Puppy is replaceable due to emotional attachments but we do believe that sometimes the pains of losing a puppy can be reduced when we can offer you another puppy of equal value. In case of the unforeseen event of death within one year from its purchase date, or if the puppy is found to possess health disorders (within 1 year) which adversely affects the health of the Havanese puppy, we’ll replace it with another puppy of equivalent value at no cost to you. The reason for death should be certified by a certified VET technician and we shall expect you to email us a copy of this health report.

Please note that sometimes their tummy gets upset due to stress, and they can have loose stools for a bit as they adjust. Just feed them their regular food for a week before making any food changes.

Training a pup takes much work but reaps great rewards! We strongly encourage you to take puppy classes. We do our best to breed quality puppies, but the outcome is a responsibility and joy you will reap! So all the best on our new pups.

Puppy Care

I will send you home with a collar, short leash, blanket with the scent of Mom and littermates, toothbrush, food, NuVet vitamins(enough for a few days), toy, health record and guarantee. Your pup will be up to date with all shots and preventative treatments. You might want to have:

  • One long leash measuring 8′-10′, and a short leash measuring 4′ that we provide for you
  • 2 bowls, not plastic. Plastic can turn black noses brown or pink
  • A crate of your personal preference in style roughly 24″ long, 14″ wide and 18″ tall.  This is not an exact science and crate sizes are not constant among manufacturers. This size crate is very roomy for your pup as an adult. You will use blankets, towels, or boxes to block off the back of the crate now and only give your pup room to lay down and turn around.  If you let your pup have the whole crate, he will make an apartment with a bathroom on one end and a bedroom on the other. You only want him to have a bedroom 🙂 Only use a soft crate for air travel. We recommend using the hard sided Gunner Kennels: G1 Intermediate Crate, as it is made with the highest quality materials, engineered using the best processes, and comes with a limited lifetime warranty.  If you wish you can choose a smaller crate for your little pup initially.
  • A comb and pin brush (or slicker brush)
  • Nail trimmers are optional but you might want to trim his nails just a bit every 2 weeks. Make sure you have a product like Kwik Stop styptic powder in case you cut too short.
  • A moisturizing puppy/dog shampoo, not human products.  We recommend using NuVet shampoos.
  • I HIGHLY urge you to stay on the recommended food, Life’s Abundance Small/Medium Breed Puppy Food,  and use Life’s Abundance throughout your dog’s life. I absolutely feel as though this is the best nutrition for your dog’s optimal health. You can get the wholesale price by checking Nuvet and getting on an autoship program. They ship right to your door. This is the freshest product available and never arrives to you more than 6 weeks old.  It keeps in the resealable bag for a year. Most store bought dog food doesn’t even make it to the shelf until it’s 6 months old. More on this dog food below.
  • I also STRONGLY recommend that you keep your pup on NuVet Supplements throughout his life. It will boost his immune system and keep him as healthy as possible. Our adults and pups are on NuVet and I wouldn’t have it any other way. We are so fortunate to have consistently healthy adults and pups. Dog food can only hold so many ingredients and NuVet is the best way to bridge the gap between average and optimal health for your dog.
  • Ordering NuJoint is a must! Given in conjunction with the NuVet Supplements, NuJoint actually promotes healthy hip and patella development, expanding mobility & flexability, as well as protecting those healthy joints! We highly reccomend adding Nuoint to your daily Nuvet Supplement to assisst in optimal development and health! You can order by phone or internet by checking at Nuvet
  • Rope toys, hard rubber toys and stuffed toys are all acceptable. As soon as a stuffed toy starts to come apart, either sew it or throw it! No rawhide, no bones, not ever.
  • I like to have dog beds throughout the house. It’s nice to train your pup to go to his bed when you are cooking, entertaining, etc and you don’t want him underfoot. Dog beds can be washed easily but if he curls up on the same spot on the carpet, that’s a much bigger project to clean.
  • In general, I suggest to pass by the store treat section. You have a tiny puppy. He needs his nutrition from his food (not your table scraps either), and too many treats may upset his stomach.  Also, you don’t want him nibbling at your hand every time you go to pet him because he is expecting a treat. The ONLY Royal Flush Havanese approved treats on the market are Life’s Abundance Tasty Rewards. They have a great smell that will get your canine’s attention for successful training and they aren’t empty calorie junk treats. They are tasty and made from wholesome ingredients.
